The coders at the Mitchell Library have been working on a range of projects since they came back in August
The younger coders have been making a wide variety of projects in Scratch, including space animations, Harry Potter games, a multi-language translation programme, and a game where a mysterious sphere is chased through obstacles in a city scene by basketballs.
The girls group have also been making projects in Scratch, including one featuring a disco scene. The older girls in the group have been learning to code in Python, working on a Dog-themed quiz app in Thunkable and making 3-D scenes in TinkerCAD. This is one example, recreating the Spanish Parliament's marking of 400 years since author Miguel Cervantes died: the lions outside the Parliament building were fitted with glasses so they could "read" a copy of Cervantes' most famous book, "Don Quixote".
Meanwhile coders in the group for secondary school pupils have been learning to make games in Unity, training a machine learning model to act as a guitar tuner, and learning about Arduinos.
All of our coding activities have benefitted from the help of our volunteer mentors, who give up their time to share their skills and enthusiasm for coding with the children and young people.
