CoderDojo Mentor Events Summer 2026
We have some social events and a one-off volunteering opportunity coming up in the next 2 or 3 months. (There are likely to be some more volunteering opportunities over the summer, but I don't have details yet).
Can you have a look at the descriptions below and then fill in this tick-box survey so that I can get an idea of numbers?

CoderDojo Volunteer Celebration
Saturday 31st May, 2:30pm - 4:30pm
For a change from the Mitchell, I've booked us a room just off the biggest glasshouse at Glasgow Botanic Gardens. The gardens are free to enter we'll have some tea/coffee/cake (which will be provided, along with some Volunteers' Week pens and bags and things), before having a look round.
Feel free to come along for all or just part of the event! How to get there.

Glasgow Science Festival: Chronicode
Saturday 6th June
I'm running a couple of Glasgow Science Festival events with my library colleagues Clare Thompson and James Gallacher. Participants will use a Scratch program and Makey Makeys to make facsimiles of two 500 books "talk". You can find out more about it here or see a tiny demo here.
I need one more volunteer for the Mitchell Library (9:45am - 11:15am) and one for Gorbals Library (1:30pm - 3:00pm). (I'll run a training session beforehand).

CoderDojo Mentor Music Jam
TBC, a Saturday in July or August
As lots of you play instruments, I wanted to see if people would be interested in coming along to a "jam" session in the Mitchell (in a room with piano). This would be very informal and not involve playing anything complicated, all levels of experience and ability welcome.
People who don't play are also welcome to come along. Just bear in mind that the aim of the session would be to have fun, not necessarily to sound good!
